His back curves out almost as
Far as his neck
Semi circle of discontent
His frown falling through bleachers
Dimples, reluctant – but there –
Under the surface
His smile the kind where you just know
He’s gritting his molars
Oh! Age 13! The cusp of manhood
Paints his peach fuzz lips:
“Whyyyyyyyyyyyyy do I have to go?
My brother doesn’t support my team!”
He insists…
Cheerleaders are enough
Reason for a boy to shower
Every day.
